"What do you want to be when you grow up?" "Where do you see
yourself in 10 years?" For years I had to fight with definitions
and categorizations. In my 20s it was impossible to hear words
like "polymaths" and "encyclopedic knowledge". Many similar to me
thought to be weird and not in line with the society. Well, we are
proving the specialization's purists wrong. The generalists' era
just started.
So who am I and what do I do? With no more shame, I can label
myself as a polyglot polymath. My mission is to spread the word:
"Learn strong, learn hard, just for the sake of your mind". I was
a journalist, a conferee, a museum guide, a cultural manager and a
tour leader. I found my niche in HR development, as from here I
can help to improve people's skills and organizations' connection
to workers. Still I do not identify myself only with the job
title. Inside my working day I can code, draw new graphics, get in
contact with different stakeholders and plan projects' steps. At
home I grab my accordion, follow tons of courses and play chess &
boardgames to keep my mind fit. French, German, English, Ukrainian
and Slovenian are the cherry on top.
But let's see in 10 years. I cannot guarantee to be the same Irene
you will meet today. And this is what I am proud of.
